Captain Perkins recognized by RI Southern Firemen’s League

Captain Jane C. Perkins of the Watch Hill Fire Department, was recognized recently by the RI Southern Firemen’s League for her work in writing columns related to the fire service in the Westerly Sun. Presenting the recognition certificate was Chiefs Nate Barrington, Michael Frink and Justin Lee.

These monthly columns are written and published in the Westerly Sun. Jane is the Fire Safety Specialist for the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League. She has a doctorate in education and works as an educational consultant.

The columns are intended as a way to connect directly with the residents and taxpayers that we serve and protect. The columns help promote fire prevention and fire safety while also answering many of the common questions that many of the local fire chiefs and firefighters are being asked.

Each month, Jane answers a question related to fire prevention, fire safety, or fire protection while providing readers with a better idea of what local firefighters do, how local fire departments operate, and what people can do to help make themselves, their families, and their community safer.
