The RI Municipal Fire Academy Class #1 started RI’s first nine week basic training class on March 27, 2017. This very first class has been long awaited and will be conducted in its entirety at the RI Fire Academy grounds in Exeter. The brand new classroom, locker-room and office building will be used daily, along with the the training/burn building and other training evolutions and resources located at the fire academy.
This class includes thirteen candidates from multiple fire departments, learning the basics together for the first time. Once completed, each candidate will go back to their individual fire departments for further training and deployment.
Tammany Hall owner Mike Shine has donated $1,000 in two check of $500 to the RI Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub and the RIAFC Foundation. The money was raised during the St. Patricks Day activities at Tammany Hall on Atwells Avenue in Providence.
