A synopsis of the history of the RI Association of Fire Chiefs was presented at the RIAFC Installation of Officers Banquet. A book detailing the first 8 meetings that formed the RIAFC in 1966-67 is included, along with 5 collages, 1 for each decade, with pictures and documents from the 50 year history of the RIAFC. A list of every president is also included on the back cover of the book. The book can be downloaded from the link above or simply viewed below. With the ability of zooming in on the pages, the material can actually be read. Fifty years and counting!
The RI Southern Firemen’s League recognized its longtime president, Chief Frederick A. Stanley, retired chief of the Hope Valley Wyoming Fire District. The longtime chief and RI firefighting icon was recognized at the leagues annual Legislators Dinner at the Richmond country club. Members of the leagues board, Chief Nate Barrington, Chief Justin Lee and Lieutenant Christopher Koretski, surprised Chief Stanley with a “2017 Dedicated Service Award” plaque at the close of the meeting.
