The RIAFC has received and transported 70 of these Protective Aerosol Boxes to the RI DMAT facility in West Greenwich for distribution. Take a look at the basic information below and click on the links to their Facebook page and website for complete details about the boxes. Contact RI DMAT if you are interested receiving one.
Here are the numbers in Massachusetts to date(last week):
447 boxes created and delivered or en-route to be delivered right now.
Hospital deliveries to MGH, Brigham & Women’s, Tufts, Veterans in Manhattan & Downtown NYC Hospitals, Mass General, Boston Children’s – to name only a few.
57 EMT and Fire Departments are now equiped with the boxes.
Why does this matter? Beyond the obvious protection for first responders, everytime a patient needs to be intubated in an ambulance, the ambulance needs to be disinfected afterwards. This means that the ambulance, and the EMTS, are out of commision and can not help more people.
If they have the Protective Aerosol Boxes, then the amublance stays clean and the EMTs risk of infection is greatly reduced.
